Rice Diet vs Cabbage Diet
"The Rice Diet vs. Cabbage Soup Plan" (The Rice Diet vs. Mayo Clinic) Our Review PART 1:
While the names might lead you to believe that each of these diets consist of a single food this is not precisely true. The Rice diet is not solely based on rice, but its first phase does include a variety of grains. The Cabbage Soup Plan does consist of large quantities of cabbage soup, but it does allow other foods, though sometimes in unusual combinations.
The Rice Diet was designed by Duke University to facilitate weight loss in people facing serious, debilitating health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and obesity. Like many diet plans this one is laid out in phases of which it has two. The first phase is made up of only fruits and grains, while the second phase adds fish, vegetables, beans and other carbohydrates.
The Rice Diet is a medically supervised plan in which the diet is administered only by the doctors and nutritionists at the Rice House. The Rice House is a diet center located in Durham, North Carolina and dieters from around the world come to this facility for a 4-8 week stay to follow the program.
During their visit they follow the diet while being supervised by nutritionists. They also benefit from attending health classes and workshops to aid them in beginning their new lifestyle. The program is very expensive and is most useful for those with longstanding, serious obesity and health issues.
