Part 1- "Is the Sonoma Diet Different From The Atkins and South Beach Diets?."

Recently, there have been a number of “low-carb” diets developed and popularized as a fast and healthy way to lose weight. Two of the most popular diets are the Atkins Diet and the South Beach Diet. A third low-carb diet that is on the market these days is called the Sonoma Diet.

Like the Atkins and South Beach diets, the Sonoma diet has a number of phases through which the dieter must progress. This particular diet has three steps, or “waves.” The first phase of the Sonoma diet seems to be very similar to the first phases of the Atkins and South Beach Diets.

This phase is entitled the Induction Phase and involves purging the body of various substances which can inhibit weight loss, such as processed foods and sugars. This phase is ten days long and focuses on getting rid of certain types of carbs and fats, as well as other types of foods.

The South Beach and Atkins diets do something very similar with its first phase. In the second phase, or wave, of the Sonoma diet, certain foods are brought back into the diet. Both the Atkins and South Beach diets do the same thing in their second phases!

Their second phases focus on bringing various carbs (such as the kind found in fruit) back into the person’s diet. The third and final phase, or wave, of the Sonoma diet begins when the person on the diet reaches the weight for which they were aiming. This phase lasts for the rest of the dieter’s life because it involves keeping and maintaining the goal weight that they have reached.

Though this phase allows the dieter to have greater choices in the types of foods they eat, they also need to make lifestyle changes based on the Sonoma diet.
